Thousands showed up to protest in Wadi Ara on Saturday, following recent housing demolitions in the Arab sector and the death of accused terrorist Yacoub Abu al-Kiyan this week.

As protesters blocked Highway 65, police began to use riot dispersal methods, including stun grenades, to control the crowds.

The crowds blocked the roadway for a short time, but police were able to successfully open the street to traffic.

MK Aymen Odeh (Join List), who joined in on the protests, stated, «Thousands of people arrived here today for one meaningful cause – opening an investigation into [Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu, [Public Security Minister Gilad] Erdan, and the police for their decision to stop negotiations with the people of Umm al-Hiran and for all the events that occurred at the evacuation.»

«The police are responsible for the blood that was shed on Wednesday in Umm al-Hiran, and they must return Yacoub Abu al-Kiyan’s body.

«Minister Gilad Erdan, who did not miss one chance to stand before a microphone and lie on Wednesday, while inciting and igniting the flames, should resign immediately.»
